Now that my first week as editor is over, I wanted to take a moment to both make a call for articles and to talk a bit about the types of articles we're looking for. In preparing to write this I went back and read Joe's opening article for RoR, "The Rebirth." The ideas he set forth there are ones I will use to help gui... (Read more...)

Yes! We Have No Articles Posted by Andrew Bissell
on 10/24, 1:03am
SOLOists, it's that time again. Each time the article queue dips below ten entries (with almost all submitted by the prolific Mr. Machan), the level of stress hormones in my blood skyrockets. I'd like to keep at least some of my hair until I reach the age of 30, so I'm asking for submissions once again.

I’m doing the update this month, ‘cos Joe is exhausted from his new day-job. I’m assured he’ll be able to afford the very best rest home! Growth has proceeded apace since the last update, with 120 new members, 42 new Extended Profiles, and 9 new authors. During this time SOLO received dishonorable mentio... (Read more...)

My fellow SOLOists, you disappoint me. I can count at least five of you, off the top of my head, who have said they are working on articles, or have ideas for articles, or had some vague dream of an article that they jotted in their dream journal.

This month we've had a rapid growth of new members, increasing my 164. Looks like word is getting around about us. The extended profile system is getting some use, with 73 new participants. I see a lot of people without pictures, though. If you don't have a picture sent in, you should do it. Send a digital image t... (Read more...)
The Free Radical # 67 has hit the streets. And the streets will never be the same! Never have the punters been presented with such a glowing example of KASS activism and abstract theorising being so effectively harmonised. Never in the field of human polemics has such a malignant dichotomy (theory/practice) been dealt ... (Read more...)

My quest for a new editor ended almost as soon as it had begun. I'm delighted to welcome Andrew Bissell to the position. Andrew is an economics student, but I'm prepared to overlook that on this occasion. I met him at TOC-Vancouver in 2004; in fact, he even had a small part to play in my presentation (which he managed ... (Read more...)
Just to formalise what most of you already know—I have resumed editor's duties in the wake of Jason's departure over the Elmore issue. Like all such departures, this was unsought and unnecessary, and, I hope, will be reconsidered soon enough. In the meantime, I shall act as editor until someone else suitable steps up (...
