From the Executive Director: Conferences Posted by Joseph Rowlands on 1/25, 10:14pm
Announcing the first RoR conference! Yes, RoRC #1! The reservations are made. Our first conference as RoR will be held in Kissimmee, Florida from May 26 to 29 this year. We'll be staying in two luxurious vacation homes with all of the trimmings. There's a pool table, air hockey table, foosball, and a Playstation 2. There's a heated swimming pool and hot tub. Located just 3 miles from Disney World. The weekend is Memorial Day weekend, and we'll be there Friday through Monday. You'll want to make your plans early. Space is limited. The two houses, side by side, have 14 rooms between them. While there is couch and floor space available, it didn't work very well at the last conference so we're planning on not renting that space. Rooms can sleep two each if desired. There will be speeches, still to be determined, and other forms of entertainment targeted at an Objectivist audience. There will be a conference fee for attending. $100 per person. On top of that, a bedroom for the 3 nights is $150 total. Contact me by email or RoRMail for questions or to sign up. If you're interested in giving a speech or presentation, please let me know. More details about this conference will be made available as we get them. In addition to RoRC #1, I've been invited to speak at TOC's Summer Seminar. It looks like I'll be speaking on how to approach Objectivist ethics from a more consistently self-interested approach. I'm very excited about the topic, and thanks Ed Hudgins and Will Thomas for their efforts.
