Kelly,

That's wonderful! There seems to be a particular "SOLO" brand of person that is gravitating like crazy to this site. Optimistic, fun, light hearted and yet prepared to be sad or angry when the occasion requires. You (and they) are fun to be around.

I particularly liked your proposed theme:

"Blasting away at mind-body dichotomies in whatever form and wherever they are found!"
Welcome :)

David

Kelly,

I've admired you postings on the Objectivist Parenting list, and yes, you have found your place. Here.

Thank you for the compliments. Thank you fellow solo members. I share many of the same feelings. I am very happy that I found SOLO. It is quite a struggle to live the life of an objectivist. I am still learning and making improvements on my self.

Kelly Reynolds:
"Blasting away at mind-body dichotomies in whatever form and wherever they are found!"
What are you referring to when you say "mind-body dichotomies"?

Kelly,

Thank you for sharing such a wonderful statement of happiness with us.  I particularly got a chuckle from this line:

But overall, most Objectivists stink.

That's how I ended up here, too.  Welcome.  :)

Warm regards,
Jennifer

Kelly, what a delightful tribute to Solo! It's hard to stick around Solo for a while and still say: "Poor me -- no one understands me!"

What are you referring to when you say "mind-body dichotomies"?

I mean anytime the abstract is divorced from the concrete.  Like when people say an idea is right but not practical.  Ivory tower syndrome is a mind body dichotomy because those kind of intellectuals think ideas are important but not action.  Separating reason from emotion is another example.  Does that help?

Kelly,

(Oh lord... how I have a thing for that name!)

I have a feeling that I am going to enjoy your posts a lot.

I have done a lot of unusual things in my life, but I have yet to read Atlas Shrugged in a cathedral.

Heheheheheh...

Great to know ya'.

Kelly,

Great answer to the "mind-body dichotomy" question.

I'm thinking, many objectivists choose not to have children, but what a great start little Livy is going to have! I don't read the parenting list [no kids], but I will be looking forward to other articles from you.

Kelly,

Hear! Hear!

I, too, am glad I found SOLO (thank you, Jason) and the knowledge that all Objectivists in the world aren't just sticks-in-the-mud is so heartening! I'm glad to know you in person as well--you are super-fun, always make me think, and a truly interesting, wonderful person.

You took the words right out of my mouth. There really are some great people here, even some who appreciate the virtue of silliness. Thanks Solo, for making my dreams come true. (*purrrrrrr*)

Kelly,
Blasting away at mind-body dichotomies in whatever form and wherever they are found!
Would this phrase have the same meaning:
"Replacing ideas that don't apply to reality with ones that do, wherever they are found!"

"Blasting" and "Replacing" might be considered an initiation of force. I like this better:
"Exposing ideas that don't apply to reality, and offering ones that do!"

Dean, I like Kelly's version better. It's more interesting and colorful. And since we're not posting for philosophy text books, color and liveliness matter.

Well... now, it comes out.  Dean, I now realize back when you asked what Michael's relationship was with "those women" that you wanted him too. Michael may say he likes you, but you can't have him....He's mine! (kitten jumps on MK's lap *purrrrrrrrrrrrr*)

Kelly, welcome.
Now, let's see. If you were a sophomore in college in 1999, that would make you....Kelly, I'm sorry. No one is allowed to be THAT young and still make sense!
I hope you enjoy feasting at the banquet of life that is Solo. We love having you at the table.

Hi Kelly,
Thanks for such a warm hearted article! I'm glad that you enjoy SOLO so much. One warning though, hope you won't repeat what's happened to me: before I knew it, I've become a SOLO addict. ;-)

And, *gasp*, Jenn Casey, you are still here! Best of luck with the imminent new addition to your family. Atlanta gangs, please keep us posted. It won't be long now...

OK Kitty - Back to the kitchen. Go read the Virtue of Kittenness or something for a while.

(Sorry about that Kelly. If you don't understand anything yet, stick around. Once again, liked your article a lot...)
