| | "If you have a few different thoughts floating around,...[don't try] to cram them into a sentence whose grammatical diagram would roughly resemble the floor plan of the Labyrinth" --- INDEED !
*I* know who yer talkin' 'bout, don't think I don't. What a contrivedly generalized way to supposedly, ostensibly, merely offer 'constructive' criticism. What a sneakily generalized way to insult specifically and only me. What a public way to actually 'attack' me. I take notice of this. I take umbrage from this. I take from this...that most horrible thing to get from all of you 'standard-setting', aristocratic-wannabe, elitistic, insensitive, criticizing, sneering, fault-finding, smear-mongering, insulting, and incessantly, chronically-attacking anti-PC verbal-assaulters nowadays: OFFENSE !!! Ie: -->I. don't. like. it. And, most especially, it's YOUR fault.
I hope I didn't miss anything in that description.
Sound pretty good? Like some others that have posted before? Except for one parenthesis, and...maybe...too many adjectives, I think it all diagrams out pretty good. Btw, they still do diagramming nowadays in English classes? I wouldn't have thought so. Too...'analytical' for today's education decision-makers methought.
MSK hinted (ok, he outright challenged) that I oughtta try an article (and somehow slip it by you; HA!) on a subject or two re my pet peeves. I'll give it a try (if I can just rearrange these 'ifs', compound sentences, subordinate clauses, parentheticals, [not to mention brackets], and general commatized 'side-thoughts' into separated but still connected, ergo coherent and cogent, 'simple' sentences --- and then there's my occasional broken syntax [undiscovered 'till after I post] and my love affair with your set of boxes for varied ways to ...emphasize).
Oops. Did it again.
I'll get back to you on this.
LLAP, Andrew...And... may you obtain more articles before I show you a real editor's challenge. J:D
