Kurt, there must be something about me that makes people say it because I have heard it many times. I only wish that it were more obvious to me! I do change my hair color about as often as Drew Barrymore, but as far as I'm concerned there's not much more to it.

Tenya, it's dillusional know-it-alls like Dean Michael Gores and Sarah House who give this site a bad name, with there 'omniscient' knowledge and rude fucking comments. I assume it's because they're at that age where they think that everyone is cat piss because they don't agree with them. They are unable to to see you at eye level. It's a good thing this site is going to close shop. I can only tolerate so much rude bullshit from people. I want debate and growth and insight, not fucking pre-madonna's.

Cowardly Titan,
If the closing of this version of SOLO means one needn't hear from you again, I second your motion. The day a cretin like you comes anywhere close to being a Sarah House I will vote for Ralph Nader for President.

Does it make me a pre-madonna if I expect people to have a rudimentary knowledge of English? Am I dillusional or am I just unable to see things at eye-level?

Hey, Sarah can be a tenacious, but she didn't deserve all that. I don't always agree with her, but she does argue ideas. Dean Michael Gores? What's he done to anyone?

that post #62 is a gem. I also like this part: "with there omniscient knowledge." Grammatical concerns aside...oh, never mind.

I think I am going to start using dillusional. I love it.

What? Another cockroach crawling out to try to feed?

Dean Michael Gores. You rock. I expect to see great things from you in life. I've said that several times before and your posts and behavior have provided sound evidence to back up my opinion.

(We all know how highly I regard Sarah.)

Titan,

I can't say I share your opinion of Dean and Sarah. I enjoy "hearing" more than one side of issues and Dean and Sarah tend to stick to arguing issues rather than descending into personal attack. I said I don't choose to enter into rigorous debate here. I didn't say I mind when others do. Yes, there are rude people here, but I wouldn't list these two individuals in that group.

Further, I don't think SOLO has a bad name. I love coming here and I've been proud to recommend it to others.

Regards,

Tenya

Titan,  Sarah's great to read. I've never gotten the impression she comes off as "rude" for the sake of being rude, however.

She does get rather pissed sometimes, but lots of people do when stupidity makes an appearance. I enjoy her posts very much.

Take a little time and read some of her stuff.  Get a better context.

I know this forum doesn't have long to live, but I've got a little something to say...

At times, the debates on this forum, both the topics and the participants, can get pretty childish. Sometimes I've been a little immature myself, given certain circumstances. But the fact remains that this forum is populated by some of the smartest damn people I know, taking into account both the internet and personal interaction. Why so many choose to waste that intelligence arguing over a decades old family spat that wasn't part of their family I'll never know.

Here's the thing: I tried, you see, to find another forum to participate in; another forum where intelligence reigned; where people would think about what they write and be willing to justify it (most of the time); where, as much as it can be abused here, people called a stupid idea a stupid idea. I've found no such other forum (and raised my blood pressure to dangerous levels exploring those damned bastions of ignorance).

I've agreed less and less with what's been said on Solo, both with the official stances and the posters. I think the premises of Oism are excellent but how they're applied to arguments is kinda shady to me. The whole pigeonholing, anti-life this, pro-life that stuff just doesn't work for me. But the ideas behind it, that is where the gold is. That is what I like.

Since I don't know where this site is going I can't say where I'll go, but if I can, I'll be with it in its new form. I'll still cause as much trouble as I can, but I'm sure as hell on your side at the end of the day.

Sarah

Good for you. Sarah... the thing is, Ayn never intended a movement... what she wrote was as individualistic a philosophy as could be seen, one which pertained to each individual on each his/her own... associating for enlightenment, to gain further insights - yes... but a 'cause to save the world' - no...  changing the world was considered a long-term idea and wish, but it depended and does on the enlightening of each person, primarily thru self understanding of one's worth to one's self... it never was considered as for everyone - any more than, as Branden said, romantic love is... it is for adults - and in truth, there are few of them in the full sense of totally self-responsible persons, the independent person, not the dependent child...
