Description

For most of my past, and my movement into Objectivism, you should read this article:
http://solohq.com/Articles/Trusnik/Converting_to_Objectivism.shtml

As for the rest, I've found SOLO to have the mixture of traits that I look for:

1 - Honesty and Openness.  Nobody's trying to argue with you for the sake of arguing.  Or, at least, nobody's done that to me.  A lack of hidden agendas means that the focus is on the ideas.

2 - A Commitment to Reason.  There are no posts that are simply supported on whim or emotion.  People use their brains to justify their points.  They may not always be correct in their application of reason, but there is no outright rejection, or subjugation, of the human mind.

3 - Toleration.  Opposing viewpoints not only have their own Dissent board, but the moderators are willing to accept posts and articles that they, themselves, do not agree on, or that may fly in the face of Objectivist orthodoxy.  The hallmark of confidence is the willingness to hear, and confront, opposing views.

So, I intend on sticking around, hoping to help revolutionize Objectivism, philosophy, and the world.  In the meantime, I'll continue working towards my Commercial Driver's License.  There's something you don't see everyday...a truckin' philosopher.

The essence of civlization is the orderly quest for truth, the rational perception of reality and all its facets, and the adaptation of man's behaviour to its laws. So long as we follow the path of reason we shall not move far from the lighted circle of civlization. Its enemies invariably lie among those who, for whatever motive, deny, distort, minimize, exaggerate or poison the truth, and who falsify the process of reason.

A genuine belly-laugh is the mark of a genuine human being & is just as important as a sharp mind. The belly-laugh is the barometer of one's joie de vivre & openness; one should never trust the man who cannot belly-laugh, since it is very likely that the cause of his condition is that he is hiding something at best or is a solipsistic sociopath at worst. (Quotes) Human freedom amounts to finding out what the laws of nature let us do and then in acting in concert with those laws to advance our ends.
