| | Actually, I shouldn't have said in the above post that AARP pressure is focused on the Democratic Party. With more than 60 million members, the organization has enough clout to have a strong influence on the Democratic Party AND the Republican Party (witness the large number of Republicans in Congress who recently came out against *any* privatization of Social Security). This is in contrast to the other pressure groups I mentioned, whose influence is essentially aimed at one party or the other. (Edited by Jon Trager on 3/15, 11:49am)
