Unless you do exactly what you're told...

exactly how you're told to do it...

and in a timely fashion.

;o)

So much for man being an end in himself rather than the means to any other end...

Actually, Summer, for Luke that was pretty funny. Nowhere near his serious thoughts on a matter like this.

Sanctioned your post #4 Summer!

From "The Name of the Rose"

Jorge de Burgos: Laughter is a devilish whim which deforms, uh, the lineaments of the face and makes men look like monkeys.
William of Baskerville: Monkeys do not laugh. Laughter is particular to men.
Jorge de Burgos: As is sin. Christ never laughed.
William of Baskerville: Can we be so sure?
Jorge de Burgos: There is nothing in the Scriptures to say that he did.
William of Baskerville: And there's nothing in the Scriptures to say that he did not. Why, even the saints have been known to employ comedy, to ridicule the enemies of the Faith. For example, when the pagans plunged St. Maurice into the boiling water, he complained that his bath was too cold. The Sultan put his hand in... scalded himself.

AND

William of Baskerville: But what is so alarming about laughter?
Jorge de Burgos: Laughter kills fear, and without fear there can be no faith, because without fear of the Devil there is no more need of God.

Jon flailed and failed at humor when he wrote:

I was not looking for any here, Jon.  Bugger off!

Summer showed better style when she wrote:

Oh ... uh ... okay!  Allow me to re-calibrate my "guard against appeasing unwarranted demands" as well to account for winks of sarcasm.

You came into the jokes forum with “Summer nagged…”

You bugger off.

Good Galt Almighty!  I guess I will have to resort to the much-hated "zebra stripes" today.

Summer asked:
Geez, guys... Can't we all *sniff* just *sniff* get along?
Well, we could, but evidently not today for reasons unclear.  In any case, you should know that I did sanction the original joke because I liked it.

Ethan wrote:

Yes, it is.  How about that?  Here, let me try to laugh at the oppressive notion, widely accepted among women, that a man should do exactly what a woman says to do exactly how she says to do it in a timely fashion:

Grrrr...grunt...heh...ha...hehehe...hahaha...HAHAHA...

Ouch.  That hurt.  I need to go back and re-read "Rules for Women and Rules for Men."

Joe clarified:
Luke, he was an end in himself after all...
Good for him!  I hope he enjoyed it.

Jon continued:
You came into the jokes forum with “Summer nagged…”  You bugger off.
No, I will not.  In case you haven't noticed, I edited my post to change "nagged" to "winked" to account for Summer's clarification -- much needed, at least for me.  In any case, it is clear that neither of us will bugger off, so go forth and be an end in yourself instead.

Damn Luke, you are either trying to make a funny, or your really being over-sensitive about a joke.
