What Do You Do for Entertainment?

Personally I find my intellectual and entertainment stimuli totally inseperable; I often give the example of watching films such as The Day After Tomorrow and finding them unbearable as soon as the predictable leftist tosh gets thrown out by my television - I have to replace it with something like Batman Begins :-P - Now's there's a film I can watch!

Unless the form of art I'm enjoying corresponds with reality in a total and complete sense I find myself unable to enjoy it fully - I'm picky with films I watch, but when I find a good one I most certainly enjoy it.

Not that this will suprise anyone but read comics. I do a lot of reading otherwise. Anytime I pick up a new interest I try to study the history of it as well as just study history in general. But it's always cool to see how a phenomenon like Comic Books or professional wrestling evolved out of other art forms and events.

I used to spend a lot of time hunting down new (obscure music) but it hasn't really been a priority lately.

I spend a fair amount of time on video games but it's not one of my biggest interests.

I agree with Andy.

If I'm watching a movie, and then the damn thing goes counterfactual on me (eg. going "back" in time; mystical interventions in physical reality) -- then I lose interest, and fast. I do like sci-fi, but I like my sci-fi realistic (potentially-achievable). Can't really get into movies like The Exorcist anymore -- since the Devil doesn't exist, and all that.

Reality is something so profound, so full of variety, that I can't even bring myself to read fiction anymore (though I enjoy writing it). Discovering truth is real fun ... real fun. A good discussion is like honey on my tongue. A meeting of minds intrigues me immensely. Human interaction -- wow. There is nothing else like it in the known universe! Nothing! Put me inside a discussion with another being who similarly aspires for the truth of a matter -- and I'm higher than a kite, baby. Higher than a friggin' kite.

I agree, and this is one of my major sources of entertainment (and intellectual stimulation). I usually like to do this with a drink in my hand.

I also enjoy yoga, camping, cooking, and reading. I like walking around the property with my dog and watching how the changing seasons have affected the fields, particularly the vineyard and the apple trees.

I recently joined a Field and Stream club and am enjoying shooting my gun there as well as hanging out for BS with the old men there. They have just about convinced me to take up archery.

I think fiction, great books education, can go a long way in educating a population in good prejudices, and seemingly noble virtues.

I agree, although I consider non-fiction to offer people more of a complete overview of reality and concepts, without the possibility of the writing being entirely dissmissed as nonsensical.

Nothing annoys me more than those who claim The Da Vinci Code was a great book - The elements that give it a cutting edge over other such books (Truth, reality) have been refuted many times by many different legal systems. You break down the faith-based religionist rubbish in there and you have a bog-standard novel worthy of nothing more than getting dusty in a bookshop.

Entertainment, hmmm, I noticed that movies (art) was lumped in there...

For amusements I enjoy checking in with this forum and playing scrabble, though you wouldn�t guess that from my spelling, but I am pretty good at knocking off two or three small words at a go.

Going deeper I love the sheer pleasure of swimming naked in the ocean or in the Aegean, creating a variety of foods, Thai, Italian, French, Mexican from fresh ingredients. I am beginning to enjoy paring nuances of wines to food and love to share that with good friends.

I am totally at a loss to experience art as entertainment. The concept reminds me of a pink poodle with sparkling gold party hat doing tricks for a children�s birthday party. Never had a hobby, and hope to never have one, hahahah, zero interest in them and no interest in other people�s hobbies.�as my lip curls in contemptuous disgust!!!
