Mike:
Jen's gone, huh? Just over that? Bummer. I was just getting familiar with her posts and liked them. I was aware she was talking about leaving, but...
'Romance' Forum? When my wonderful wife has no problem with my having a harem (hmmm...maybe I'll discuss it with her), I'll check it out; 'till then...(hmmm...she might be interested in having one also)...on second thought, nevermind (so call me sexist.)
Re your 'pomos' and my demons: at least I get to vicariously enjoy making them literally 'meet their maker' (and we know who that is in THAT game!) --- I wonder if they'll do a DOOM-4 with Bin-Laden acolytes. Think about remote-controlling suicide-bombers' bombs! Talk about a 'blast!' (Come to think of it, maybe our secret govt-descendants of Skunkworks are working on that, among other relevent things.)

Malcom:
Re your reference to 'glassland' (sounds like a cool skating rink or amusement park; better than 'a parking lot' anyways): apart from the UK or Israel, not to mention fallout (sociological, I mean), I gotta admit, no big global-community value-loss. --- Strictly speaking, methinks that, unless we get a small rink here, only the Israelis will be involved in such over there. 'Course, if we DO get one here (bio- or chemi- I have no idea of what 'we will' do), then, given our entrance into Iraq, I'm sure that most decision-makers wanting our having a rink are they themselves having 2nd thoughts.

I can't take the credit for her leaving. I always got along with Jennifer, even during the purrrrcification. (Frankly, I had a ball at the time.) There were some incompatibilities she had with others here on Solo and a huge amount of off-line communications flying all over the place at the time. Ultimately she was the one who decided to leave for her own reasons. Some others left at the same time too.

A little bit of thunder but no storm. Solo still flourishes. And it will continue to flourish and grow. I think it's one hell of a good place for Objectivists and others who want to learn about Objectivism and live it. It is even a great place for the legion of lurkers who never post.

btw - Where are my manners?

Hi folks! Make yourselves at home.

Mr. Hardy, I think I happen to agree with you a lot- and to the rest of you, I admit..yeah, I am extreme. That's just me. I've never found that "Fine line" for anything, and I doubt I ever will- I'm just not the type- but I think I'll definitely go with what Mr. Clarence Hardy here is saying. I'll definitely go with that. But c'mon, NO ONE wants to nuke the French? Nor the Russians? Oh, be honest! ':B-)

Heh, thats just assumed. Honestly I'm played out on the French. Its not even funny even more, they're our enemy pure and simple. In a perfect world, France just wouldn't be nucked, they would be the nuclear testing ground. France has a special place in my ranking of evil nations cause of all the evil nations out there, France is a democracy and they have no excuse. They CHOOSE this path and they need to pay for it.

Michael, I gotta say, you make my day sometimes with your spirit. I've been listening to Yes's version of "Something's Coming" a lot, and there's a line that makes me think of you:

"C'mon something,
don't be shy,
be the guy,
pull up a chair."

And then I picture your solo picture and hear a southern drawl ("I say!") ...and then the purring from the kitchen. :)

To Russell Kay:
In relation with your having commented my comment I am still mystified why you included Kuwait and Turkey among the countries not to be nuked (besides, if you nuke everybody else, please remember that Objectivists are spread all over the world, so you will nuke us too).

Could you PLEASE elaborate on WHY you included Kuwait and Turkey? I mean: what's the reason lying behind?

When I first read this, I thought he was kidding, but then...

I am living in Germany and that would fall under your category of socialism. So you want to kill me, too, despite the fact that I am pro-capitalism?

If this is your logic, than you are threatening my ideas and my life and I have to kill you (following the logic you have) to prevent any strikes against me. I am only happy that someone with this crude a notion of the world is not at the trigger of a nuclear device.

Don't forget, even the French had minds like Voltaire or Molinari that were champions of individual freedom.

Max:
Not that I 'advocate' Russel Kay's preference, but I sympathize with his attitude, as my previous posts made clear.

Your choosing to live in (what *you* call someone else's [but, not yours?] 'category of socialism') definitely does not make you fair game in terms of their "...want[ing] to kill [you] too, despite the fact that [you are] pro-capitalism." I totally agree with that. But, methinks so would the poster you j'accuse such of. Methinks you're missing something ---  Your choice of living areas (for whatever personal reasons) does not make you (or, your country/govt of choice) a purposeful 'target' that some would want to eliminate 'you'; but, it does make 'you' ignorable re such concerns about Germany's worth in the U.S. populace values, especially in terms of 'collateral-damage.' Consider: Germany has not had the U.S.'s 9/11...yet (ergo, no vicarious way of empathizing...as you personally demonstrate). Germany is NOT the greatest U.N. ally of the U.S.(check U.N. voting history)...yet.

Your 'argument' that others are willing to, not purposefully end, but accept incidental ending of Germany (ergo, you, since you choose to stay there), and forego Germany's existence (and yours) is "...threatening my ideas and my life..." is, because of where you chose to live. This is an argument that amounts to: "I don't care how anti-US [can we say 'uncaring'?] the govt. I choose to live under is to your govt in the U.N. You got no buisness showing uncaringness to my govt, ergo, to me." --- One "I don't care" deserves a mutual "Therefore, me too." What's gone around, is coming around. Given our (the U.S.'s) 9/11, you're a help in the U.S.'s probs...or you're a hindrance. We don't need a 2nd 'Twin Towers' via bio-/chemo-/nuclear-/multi-plane scenario in Las Vegas, Hollywood, Disneyland, Boston, Yosemite, Carlsbad Caverns, (or NY, again?) etc. Come to think of it, maybe you ('scuse moi; I mean Germany) could use an Al-Queda targeting at the Brandenburg Gate, to appreciate where some of us in the US are coming from...dealing with some of you 'don't-drag-me-into-this-mess' neutralist-wannabees.

In many 'wars,' there have been, and will be, places for some re 'neutrality.'
    NOT with THIS baby.

You 'choose' to stay next to Hiroshima...live (so to speak) with it. At least you got years of 'warning' re the risks you surreptitiously expect others to live under. (Btw: I suggest you be more concerned with how you think the Israelis are planning on dealing with Iran, etc. rather than the U.S. I mean, 'fallout,' concerns, you know. They're known to be a bit...less passive then the U.S. usually has been. --- just a side thought.)

I'm glad that you are "...only happy that someone with this crude a notion of the world is not at the trigger of a nuclear device." ---  Well, *I* wouldn't call it 'crude' to ignore others' living-location preferences as a way to prevent escalating threats to our existence; though, clearly, you would. I wonder why?

Indeed, if you've been watching the news the last 4 years, I'm not sure you have such 'reason' to be happy (or, you would have voted for Bush? IF you were a U.S. citizen?). --- At any rate, down this same vein, I also am happy that someone with your crude notion of what others ought to put up with for your living-location convenience '...is not at the trigger of a nuclear device.' ~ ~ ~ They clearly would NEVER use it (and all enemies would know this: THAT's the problem with such an idea).....in which case, later, they'd never be ABLE to use it; guess why? ->Because the 'enemies' had LOTS of supporters...not ideological ones...merely lots of those who thought being inconvenienced in their living style required supporting them. Just like the 'pragmatic' bankers, govt-power-favored buisnesses, and lower govt.-functionaries who supported...can we say...Ayatolla-Hitler?

Argue against the threatened to stop threatening your preferred, chosen, life-style/location, and look the other way, at your short-range 'convenience'...and long-range INconvenience.
The chickens are coming home to roost.

I suggest you move...or help the ones that presently seem to support your...living location preference.

    Your choice.

You make yours...we make ours. Mehopes we both make the same one(s).
