Jeff & Luke,

I've been shopping around for a house (and a home loan) and when I got my car the lowest rate was BB&T. Being new to the area I went with them based only on the lowest rate. The last time I went in for a payment I noticed the philosophy on a sign prominetly displayed in the branch and I was pleasantly surprised. I immediately sat down and started talking to the branch manager about house loans. While I'm not naive enough to think everyone in the company are objectivists, I am much encouraged to examine their products by their corporate philosophy.

And we aren't talking about a small bank here, strange that I didn't take notice before. BB&T is a pretty sizeable ($23 Billion Market Cap) regional bank paying a nice dividend. I like the company philosophy so much that I might just become a stock holder. My previous employer JPMorgan Chase was probably the most hardcore politically correct, multiculturalist, touchy feely company on the planet. I hope that BB&T performs well so that other big companies take notice.

Jason,
You are in one backwards-bizarre way, lucky. PC, multi-culturalist, touchy-feely, would be a huge step up ethically compared to most companies I worked for. As much as I despise the quasi-libs, they at least have some respect for some kind of ethical principles, wrong as they may be. Most companies I've worked for operated (to oversimplify somewhat) on two rough guidelines: (1) Do anything to anyone to get what you want, (2) Pretend that everyone is being nice and considerate while doing it.
