Bravo!

Really, very good speech! Great introduction to libertarianism, with solid NZ based significance, and an excellent call to action to those who may otherwise choose to be "respectable" or "not waste their vote". Well done!

David

Brilliant, Andrew.

I gather you didn't have time to deliver everything you've posted here, but I wish I'd been there to see their faces. Unfortunately, as you know, I can't stand poofs. :-)

Seriously, very well done. Glad to see it up in lights here on SOLO!

Yes Bravo Andrew - excellent work young man!!

Erm just one thing though - that 8 page list of government departments the Libz intends to abolish includes the Ministry of Defence... I'm hoping that that is a typo, 'cause it's going to be hard pretty damn hard to plan the re-equipping and re-organization of the NZ Defence forces from the phone booth in Waiouru.

Why vote Libertarianz? ...why vote at all? Democracy is just a euphemism for socialism, I don't see why such a system should be supported.

Hah! Yes, Robert, you're right. That is surely a typo. I didn't scroll through to check the press release for police, justice and defence. What sort of time do you have on your hands these days?

Linz,

Thanks - you would have *hated* the executive (all Labourites) I had dinner with, including one lawyer who had worked for the HRC and said he almost had a heart attack when saw the cover of the TFR that had a swastika and the Human Rights Commission on it.

One young guy was there asking pointed questions of "all the right wingers." He looked in his note-book and asked me if we would get rid of the Human Rights Act. I explained that we would, that under a Libertarianz government the state would be barred from discriminating against people but private citizens would not, that when you set up a business it's your property and there for your own ends and the state has no business forcing you to hire or serve anyone. No applause followed that unfortunately - I guess I should have said we'd give gays the right to fire Islamofascists.

The well-dressed Susan Baragwanath spoke for NZ First and I presented an unshaven PC to her. She clearly has no idea what Winston stands for. She said she would try to convince her party to drop their bigoted stances if elected.

I swear, editing you kiwis can be such a chore. Seriously, what the hell is a "quango?"

Great speech, Andrew. Having seen you speak before, I'm sure it was quite the rousing performance. Best of luck to your party in the upcoming elections.

Qango = A quasi-autonomous non-governmental authority.

:-)

I wrote up the GABA meeting at which Andrew spoke here:

You might want to begin with Joe's recent article.

Andrew,

Catching up on my reading. I skimmed this article (read a little deeper than skimming really), but as it is so local, I have little knowledge of the people you talk about.

The speech looks like one hell of a nice speech, though. Bonk.

I also skimmed the 8 pages of government agencies that you guys want to close. I found included there: Alcohol Advisory Council of New Zealand.

You would close that?

(ducking)
