Where's the fish?? I can't see it...

I noticed something interesting about the perspective, but I don't know if it's deliberate or not. The bottle looks higher than the book, which would keep the red cap from being reflected in the book. Looking at just the book, it seems higher than the bottle. Looking at just the bottle, it seems higher than the book!

Are you going all Escher on us, Michael??

I'm dizzy now.

That black thing in front looks like part of a cowboy boot. This piece by itself is quite interesting. A bit surreal. Especially if that black boot turns out to be a big fish... ;-^

Hahahaha...

The big fish is in the foreground left. It is a "gurgling cod" from Boston, it gurgles when you move it, and it spits water and gurgles when you pour!

...just like Michael, apparently!

I love the thing. Makes pouring water a bit more fun.

Yes, its not a bad choice. A bad choice is being friends with writers! Fictional writers. Like John and George. You may end up being a character in one of their works and they make you spout all kinds of things you don't believe in. Now, a great choice is to be friends with a composer, that influence is totally abstract, unless of course, they write an Opera, then you will end up hysterical and dead!

Uh I should probably take this opportunity to come clean. Hong, your accounts of living in China helped fill in a lot of gaps in a character I was developing.

Either I need to post higher resolutions, which is reasonable, or you need glasses...I got my reading classes for my art making last year! at 48
But there is a lot of optical stuff going on... light and reflections can do that.

A proper answer would be substantial and I planning to do a tutorial on the subject of composition in the near future. But a quick answer is that I run all aspects of art through my spiritual mill: I evaluate everything through my intellect, my visual senses, and my emotions. When it clicks on all three I am in business.
