| | I visited the National Galleries in Washington, DC last week and saw this wonderful Birds of America exhibit. Very impressive. This one oil painting was featured among many illustrations, including one of the painting. I only wished I could have brought my daughter to see these wonderful illustrations. She wants to be a medical illustrator when she grows up and these were some beautiful scientific illustrations.
If you are ever in DC, check out the National Galleries. The west gallery is incredible. It has the only Leonardo Da Vinci in America (Ginerva de Benci), a large Degas collection, huge monumental sculptures from the Renaissance and a really nice collection of still lifes from Pieter Claesz and all kinds of great stuff. This museum is wonderful. They keep the modern art in the east building, so enter that one at your own risk. ;-)
