I always dig Escher.  Amy got me turned onto him (it's a math thing). I always loved how he applied total realism to impossible ideas.

It's a strong reminder, from the eye, that the human mind can (and does) present representations of the world which are perfectly logical yet completely unreasonable, and plain wrong.

It is the opposite. The picture is the representation, and it represents a scene in two dimensions that is illogical in three dimensions.

     Given that you're both talking about Escher, you both realize that you're both correct...whatever 'perspective' one takes; well, you are...more or less.

     I've always been fascinated with Escher myself, as well as any apparent 'paradox,' verbal or visual.
