Bravo, Mr. Thomas.  A worthy effort.  Have you visited www.artrenewal.com lately?

Remember, safety first! What kind of goons do you have, cutting metal like that? How did they decide who gets to hold the saw and who gets to hold the metal?

Dean,
The "goons" are Quent Cordair and two of his loyal employees, Sean and Chris. I wasn't there on the day of that particular task so I managed to avoid the shower of sparks. But there's been a number of rather demanding jobs that have come up for each and every one of us that's been involved in the renovations. It's been very rewarding and inspiring to work with people that have such an admirable dedication to completing this job, without cutting any corners, no matter how long or how difficult the job has been. At times we've all found ourselves dealing with various unexpected obstacles while being very pressed for time. Hence the need for the staff to get things done at times when their usual contractor is unavailable. Quent, Linda, Sean, and Chris have each put in 10-15 hours a day, every single day for the past couple of weeks (I'm not exaggerating here). But the new space looks phenomenal and there were no aesthetic compromises made. It's exactly as Quent and Linda wanted it to be. :-)

Jeff,
I'm familiar with the Art Renewal Center and I check out the site often. So much uplifting art and so little time! Not too mention how little money I have to purchase any of it... ;-)

Marvin, sorry, I should have indicated that I wasn't serious to the slightest degree. When no vice is available, a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do. Cmon', don't they look like goons in that picture? Especially the guy who isn't wearing safety glasses, blindly holding a very dangerous piece of metal?

Dean,
I didn't think you were serious with the "goon" comment, and I actually thought it was a funny comment. No harm done. It appears that poor Chris is the one that drew the short straw, so to speak. There were only two of the safety goggles available, and as you observed, no vice clamp for holding the metal rods. Yep, sometimes a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. :-)

They're finished with the expansion! Please take a moment to see the latest round of pictures:

Now that they've placed much of the art I think it looks absolutely stunning. I can't wait to drop in on Sunday and see it in person.
:-)

Very good, I wish it well. Especially now that it's exposed me to the Capuletti painting with the dancer bursting through the wall. THAT IS A GREAT PAINTING! I also really like YOUNG BUILDER by Larsen.

I just re-discovered this though the First Creation blog.

I ordered three catalogs as gifts for fellow students this summer.
