MISSION STATEMENT
"Rebirth of Reason (RoR) Toastmasters is the leading movement devoted to making effective oral communication of Objectivist ideas and ideals a worldwide reality through Toastmasters International.
"Through its membership, RoR Toastmasters helps men and women learn the arts of objectively integrated thinking, feeling, speaking and listening -- vital skills that promote self-actualization, enhance leadership potential, foster human understanding, and contribute to the betterment of mankind.
"It is basic to this mission that RoR Toastmasters continually expand its worldwide network of participants, thereby offering ever-greater numbers of people the opportunity to master Objectivism and enjoy its benefits."
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Objectivism is the comprehensive philosophy of life discovered and developed by novelist-philosopher Ayn Rand. She elaborates on this philosophy in fictional form in her epic novel Atlas Shrugged.
In her words, "My philosophy, in essence, is the concept of man as a heroic being, with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life, with productive achievement as his noblest activity, and reason as his only absolute."
To give all of us a common ground, consult Ayn Rand's books The Art of Fiction and The Art of Nonfiction. Rand had a way of cutting through fluff to get to the essence of issues and illustrating highly abstract concepts with vivid concrete examples. Given that Toastmasters demands we do the same, we can all benefit from these books.
