I've heard of a similar joke which was meant to poke fun at the foresight (or lack thereof, in this case) of a certain group of people. This joke, too, involved money.
Long joke short:
Two people were walking in a field. One made a bet with the other to eat a cow patty. The person ate the patty and obtained the money. The person who first made the bet decided that he wanted the money back, so he said that he would eat a cow patty for the same amount of money. He did, and got his money back. A little while later, one of them remarked: "Do you realize that we both just ate a lot of shit for nothing?"
The joke in the video seems to be a variation of the "cow patty" joke, but imbued with a Keynesian twist. I think my economic professor would appreciate this.
