Richard,

The more I listen to these, the more I appreciate your incredibly artistry.  The four-note motif not only integrates the material, but is developed in astonishing ways.  I think your setting of the text is excellent, being both highly melodic and expressive.  In addition, I really enjoyed the interplay between the cello, voice and piano.

The image that you used to start this one was breathtaking, and I loved the way the clouds sort of cleared as the song started.  Also, the image of the twin towers was very moving.

Though your singer has a lovely voice and good diction, I had an easier time hearing her live than on this recording. I wonder if it would be worth putting the text under as she sings?  Just a thought.

Two more wonderful works by Mr. Gleaves. I particularly enjoyed the passionate singing, the uplifting lyrics, the richness of the sound, and the more than fitting subject of these pieces.

As I have composed music myself, I appreciate just how much hard work goes into creating pieces of this caliber.

Thank you for posting these.

Sincerely,
Gennady Stolyarov II
