I chose the 2nd option (ie. it'd probably be cool for awhile). The reason I chose this option is that I would be, instantly (though, unearnedly) 'valuable' to most all of the females. They'd fight over me, for sure (and that's kinda cool). But, eventually, it'd be more trouble than it was worth.

It'd be nice to be the only male around -- for maybe a month or 2.

Ed

Don't be so sure - an all female planet, for instance, would probably be engaging in parthenogenesis...

Is there a point to this very strange poll?? LOL!

I voted for plan B.

It would be cool for about a day.

I enjoy the company of fellow females too much to want them gone for very long.

There could be no grandchildren. But I could handle it for a couple of weeks. After that I would get a little warn out, and sore.

From my common knowledge, its a common mis-conception that close relatives are more likely to produce deformed children. More correctly, if you are retarted, you are much more likely to produce a retarted child than an average person.

I think it would be interesting to be on an all female planet except me.

I think there would be a bloodbath if it was all men and one woman-- depending on the number of men.

I choose option 1). But a quick comment or two on what Dean wrote:

I feel especially sorry for "retarted" people. It's bad enough being tarted, and on a planet where I was the only guy, at least some of all those women would be tarts, and I'd be in serious trouble, because some of them would want a "repeat," and then I would be not only tarted but "retarted." And any son that such a union produced would inevitably be tarted and "retarted," too. Oh, the agony!   :-)

Teresa,

I want to be the first to admit that I was the source of this "very strange poll."

Sometimes, I get to thinking -- and the results are not always conventional or even productive. That's the trouble with abstract thoughts untied to concretes.

Sorry for any psychological dismay I may have caused -- in posting this "strange" poll.

Oh.

Well, if was YOU, Ed, I'm sure there will be something incredibly interesting attached.

Or were you just up late watching B sci-fi movies? ;)

a long time, with only women, I think I'd get a headache after a while. There are just too many girls out there, who like to spin conspiracies and behind-the-back talks.
I think it'd also be the loudest place on earth, given all the chat and diggin in bags or meddling with some pen and paper...

If you have ever visited a course with 75% girls, you know what I am talking about. You just can't concentrate, when everyone is talking and getting excited all the time.

(/joking off)

No, but with whom would I play soccer???

Rev' -- you crack me up!!!  :-)))

Teresa, I was merely hoping for folks to comment more on their votes. It was (secretly?) the comments I was after, not the votes.

Ooooooh,  you're writing a B sci-fi movie. I get it!   A la Twilight Zone.  Cool! .

Just kidding, Ed.

You 2 are a couple of rabble-rousers. Did you know that? Rev', I sort of had a preference for 'Outreach to Eden' (looks like someone beat me there, though). Teresa, here is my uncompleted manuscript ...

[Rod Sterling voice] Imagine, if you will ... John Smith. John Smith never paid much attention to his life. That is, until he woke up one day to find that he was the only male left on Earth. Instead of going through his normal daily routine, he found himself booked on all the TV talk-shows in the entire world.

He had a standing invitation to be on Oprah, Tyra, Ricki, and that other big show where those 4 ladies sit around a table and talk up a storm. It seems that he never had a free minute anymore. He was continually followed by a pack of females, from the teens on up to the 'still-not-in-wheelchairs.'

He never paid for anything ever again in his life. He was given what he wanted, when he wanted it. He had a series of brief, failed marriages (some of them actually widowings) until, coincidentally, the laws changed so that polygamy was re-accepted. He began to accumulate wives ...

Now, imagine if you will ... Jane Doe. Jane Doe woke up one day to find that she was the only female left on Earth. Instead of going through her normal daily routine ...

;-)

Have you called Jim Carey yet?   Right up his alley.

Geeze, what was the name of that old movie...where everyone dies from a nuclear accident and there's only three people left in the world, Sidney Poitier, a blonde chick and a white guy?   I haven't watched it in years and years.

Anyway, one man and many women could definitely repopulate the world much faster than one woman and many men. In fact, the species would probably just die out in that case, don't you think?

It's kinda sexy, but I can't picture one women in a world of men lasting for much more than a few generations. The opposite could last for a very long time.

Uh, oh...I sense a rambling session encroaching. Time for bed!

Ed,

Imagine being a drone. With only ONE function you could even consider doing. Boring. The possibility of having ANY freedom to do anything else or ANY visibility besides that one function would be nonexistent.

I'll stick with the world the way it is [as far as male/female proportions]. I would like to look more like Tom Selleck though. That would be interesting.

Mike,

Imagine, if you will ... Mike Erickson. Mike Erickson was a rabble-rouser who never paid much attention to groundless fantasy. That is, until he woke up one day to find that he was the spittin' image of Tom Selleck. Instead of going through his normal daily routine, he found himself booked on all the TV talk-shows in the entire world ...

You SURE you'd want to look like him, Mike?

;-)
