This poll seems too easy.  I hope you're not making Soylent Green.  *L*

I think we should make Soylent Green out of politicians, and use it for cat food. :)

Soylent Green wasn't the greatest movie ever made but Edward G. Robinson's death ceremony  was one of the most poignant scenes ever. For those that don't know scenario, the whole society was forced to live in an artificial environment. When it comes time to die they are treated to movies of deer in the forest, waterfalls, etc. while listening to the accompanying music. Thus they pass away, viewing life and nature that they have never witnessed before.

Yes, now that's civilized society for you... Keep you from as much simple pleasure as possible, until your time to die, and then you're "released".

For anyone who's interested, there is an utterly horrifying and sickening, so-called "children's" book called "The Giver" by Lois Lowry, that is about a totally, utterly, socialist dystopia of the future.

Even more than George Orwell's 1984, it is the single most horrifying and depressing book I've ever read.

I'm about to finish The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. This rivals 1984 in depravity. I'll write a short review of it when I find out how it ends..

I find the Robinson death scene incredibly moving also. Apparently Robinson knew that he was really dying of cancer at the time of filming. What an actor!
