| | I would say my view, as an objectivist, is that death and disease are to be overcome. I deal with disabled people daily and it really is a matter of the person involved. Some are heavily disabled and deserve a slow clap for the manner in which they live, others are less so and deserve nothing but disdain, because they usually did it to themselves and serve no function even to themselves. As to a mentally handicapped person, although they make me uncomfortable, I wouldn't say they are in anyway worthy of disdain. Part of objectivism is doing your best with what you have, the mentally handicapped are often paragons of this. They happen to be limited in their abilities, I treat lots of entities well that aren't on the same level as myself, and hopefully people more gifted than me will do the same for me.
