| | I tend to view it as two halfs of the same whole. At one end, you have the actual compositional score which includes melody, lyrics, and instrumentation. The other side of the piece, after that is execution. Is the composer's intentions realized, does the performer(s) have the technical ability to execute the work? Does he/she/they have the ability to make there own creative interpretation of the piece and make it come to life? To have written music that will never be performed is futile, to perform a composition without ever reading the score is an abberation.
