We had a bunch of problems.  Our server upgraded software, which made a bunch of our older code break.  Somehow around the same time, we had a bunch of data wiped out.  Jeff L managed to fix most of the software.  I got data restored and fixed a few other issues related to upgraded software.  Things seem to be working again.  Just got it up again a couple days ago, but I've been fixing other issues.   If anyone sees anything broken, please let me know.

I've been away since 2018.  Now, I did get married, move to a new house, do a fair bit of traveling, but I also switched from a Dell laptop to a Mac desktop, changed email carriers and lost my password to the old one.  So, when Sam Erica let me know that ROR was back alive, I couldn't get in - I was in password hell.  Sam helped me, by getting Joe to change my email address and I'm back.

During my time away I spent a lot of hours typing away at Quora posts.  Whew, there are a lot of progressives at that site.  And I sure missed ROR.  Thanks, Sam.  Thanks, Joe.

Now I'll need to see where ROR stands with threads on Trump, on the insurrection, on BLM, on the Novel Coronavirus, on the elections that are about 4 months away, about the state of the nation.

Nice to see you, Steve. I was worried about you, really. Old guys and all that. Congratulations on the marriage and the home.

Eighteen months ago, I gave myself a hernia trying to meet USMC standards for a 50-year old. It was for my last physical fitness test in my last year in the Texas State Guard Maritime Regiment. As it was, I retired at age 70 in October 2019, after five years of service. I was breveted to petty officer first class, and received another "thank you for your service" ribbon. (As for "breaking the mold" they disbanded the regiment, cased the colors, and created a new "joint force" command aligned to federal standards. Structurally, it makes sense, but culturally, it does not bode well. More on that later.) I still keep up my fitness routines, but now within the range of reason.

As for the other stuff between us, we will continue to disagree about much. I suggest that on the matter of Pres. Donald Trump, you revisit Ayn Rand's essay, "The Fascist New Frontier."

Hi Michael,

Good to 'see' you again.  I can commiserate on the issue of aging - being trapped in these organic containers has its downsides.

As others have said, "Getting old isn't for wimps" and like my brother said,  "I always thought I'd die young, but I waited too long, and now its too late."
