Hi Steve,

The recruiters don't need any true facts logically presented in the proper context to use as recruiting tools for two reasons: First, true facts logically presented in a proper context would deter recruitment. Second, they have never felt constrained by truth or logic in their recruitment. Nothing we do will change their willingness to lie. They engage in rabble-rousing with an illogical hatred based upon evil principles written in unquestionable holy scriptures.
Its not aout the recruiters, it's about those they recruit.

Ok Ethan, how do you achieve victory? You seem to be quite elusive on that point.

Hi John,

I've made a few comments about it on other threads. Perhaps you'd care to answer your own question?

Ethan you are ignoring John's obvious point. Clearly you are paranoid about giving the recruiters any ammunition which to recruit by, but are ignoring the fact that they don't have any rational standards, proof, or evidence that they use for recruiting. Actions are right or wrong regardless of who gets ticked off by them for whatever irrational reasons.

Rearden did not say

"I'll maybe take on only one person if perhaps he doesnt get too upset at my taking him on and get some friends to bully me"

he said

"I would fight the whole of mankind, if one minute were all I could last before I were murdered, I would fight in the full confidence of the justice of my battle and of a living being's right to exist"

This is the standard which a life loving rational being lives by, any other is the standard of a coward.

Ethan,

Neither the recruiters nor those they attempt to recruit are working on facts that we would want to change. The basis for their outrage is that we don't submit to Islam. Every sign of happiness and success that doesn't involve submission to Islam is a reason, by their 'reasoning,' to wage war on us. The recruiter can make up lies and recruits will hear and accept them. The recruits have already been brainwashed by madrassas and 'informed' by Al Jazeera and given 'moral' instruction by their local Imam.

Nothing we do, short of total capitulation and complete submission will stop the recruiting process.

What I've written here addresses how impractical it would be to make judgments based upon whether or not it might upset those who have within them the willingness to join a violent jihad, but it is Merlin's reply, in the post above this, that is the more important issue. It isn't about what's practical, it isn't about tolerance for different religions, it is about the moral right to direct one's own actions. And, not out of concern for the possibility that a rightful action might induce some thug or madman to kill someone because it was upsetting to them.

You want me to answer what your idea is of achieving victory?

Come on man, let's get serious. You attacked this position you defined as most RoR posters playing into the hands of Al-Qaeda recruiters, and then you say it's not going to achieve victory. Ok, so it's incumbent upon you define what would achieve victory.

What are Muslims taught to do?

To fear and loathe the West. Here is why.

http://rebirthofreason.com/Forum/GeneralForum/0947_1.shtml#33

I am not offering this as definitive, but as an anecdote. I obtained this anecdote by traveling to a Muslim nation and asking them, in their context. That is what they told me.

I believe them.

They're certainly getting enough help in that effort from our own mainstream media, aren't they?

I watched the Sunday Morning show today, and, oh, how they couldn't wait to interview an 8 year old muslim American boy who was being taunted and teased in school because he was muslim. It was obvious Sunday Morning's point was to illustrate just how much America, and Americans truly suck.

It isn't clear, however, what, if anything, CBS is hoping to hang on to by illustrating that point.

Stealth Jihad... the intent of many Muslims - following the dictates of Islam - is only made possible by our political correctness, our loss of the survival instincts we once had, and the liberal medias incessant bleating. The Ground Zero Mosque is an example. (It was called the Park 51 Mosque by the Imam in the English translation of his book. But in the original Arabic copy it is the "Ground Zero Mosque").

The Los Angeles time reports that, "Writer Aijaz Zaka Syed wrote in the late August issue of Egyptian online weekly Al-Aram, 'I see an opportunity in this brewing crisis. Muslims must use this opportunity to clear the cobwebs clouding the image of their faith in the minds of Americans. They have an opportunity to remind and explain to Americans, and the world, that the destruction that struck the Twin Towers does not represent Islam, but peace, compassion and equality do.'”

But it was Islam that made possible the destruction of the Twin Towers. They were destroyed with thousands of innocent lives, and in a way that changed the world forever, in the name of Islam. There is no way to say that the influence of Islam in today's world is all good.

Around the world Muslims are calling for more tolerance, but Islam is the least tolerant of all religions. Where were the Muslim calls for tolerance for that Danish cartoonist's work?

Since the Islamic government of Sudan imposed Sharia, over 2 million Sudanese Christians and animists have been killed and enslaved. Where is the peace, compassion and equality there? Where is the outrage?

Indonesia, the Philippines, East Timor, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Iran, Nigeria, Thailand, Palistine, Egypt, the Balkans, the Caucausus region, Yemen, Afganistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, and on and on... the dead pile up in accordance with Islam: Sura 9:5,29,41 “Slay the idolators [non-Muslims] wherever ye find them, and take them captive, and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush. Fight against such of those who have been given the Scripture as believe not in Allah nor the last Day…. Go forth, light-armed and heavy-armed, and strive with your wealth and your lives in the way of Allah!”
------------------------------------

Many of these supporters of the Ground Zero mosque claim the RIGHT to build, but where do they respect the rights of others? Not in how women dress, not in the publishing of cartoons. And if someone points out that it is insensitive to build so close to ground zero, angry accusations of bigotry are the argument given in response.

An opinon piece from a United Arab Emirates paper says, “It is a deep outrage that opponents of this mosque persist in fanning anti-Islamic rhetoric for their own narrow political purposes. They are wrong to deliberately confuse the destructive and violent tactics of Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda, with the true Islamic way espoused by billions of people worldwide.”

Isn't Osama Bin Laden fighting to implement the dream of Muhammed, the dream of establishing a Caliphate? Didn't the 9/11 bombers each and everyone sacrifice their lives in the name of Islam? Weren't their twisted and sick views of going to paradise and receiving 72 virgins Islamic dogma? The millions of victims of radical Islam are not here to join in the conversation of what the difference is between what is esposed by the Koran and what is espoused by billions of Muslims. Those of us who are still alive and see the murderous threats made by terrorists week after week are justified in saying that when those billions of Muslim's take Islam away from the terrorists or do away with the terrorists, then the conflict will be over. And until they do, they should stop playing like victims.
----------------

The Jakarta Post published a Sept. 1 opinion article by Achmad Munjid saying, “People don’t need to sign up for graduate class on Islam to know that, much like Halakha in Judaism, sharia is understood by most Muslims as the Islamic principle on how to practice the faith in daily life, for example, how to pray five times a day and how to fast during Ramadan. Islamization of America? Even in Indonesia, the largest Muslim country with more than 230 million Muslims, the idea of state sponsored implementation of sharia is rejected by majority Muslims.”

Perhaps Munjid is the one who would benefit from a graduate class on Islam so that he would know about how many countries are not technically theocracies, but still grant special privileges to Muslims and tilt the secular laws towards Sharia. Perhaps Munjid would then understand that there are different sects within Islam - some of which are very aggressive in pushing for Sharia as the state law. Perhaps he should study the Muslim Brotherhood who are behind stealth Sharia. Perhaps he should think about the 'honor' killing that arise from Sharia in countries that are not theocracies, but the young girls are still dead.

Besides, Munjid, what's the use of lecturing us: Shakir 2 : 5 "Surely those who disbelieve, it being alike to them whether you warn them, or do not warn them, will not believe." Shakir 2 : 6 "Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing and there is a covering over their eyes, and there is a great punishment for them."

I call it 'revolution-by-proxy.' The closet-radical-left in this nation thinks it can ride this megapolitical violence like a pony on their way to 'change' in America. (Change away from freedom to something never fully disclosed, only packaged and marketed. Armies of instructoids get pumped out of our long over-run institutions of indoctrination with their instructions regarding this 'change.'

Over-run? Plenty of hints how.

)

They think that they will be able to 'somehow' jump off the back of this Jihad a kitchen fire short of Sharia Law.

So, instead of actual violent overthrow, they stand on the sideline, biting their lips, and passively cheer in permitted ways as every 9/11 we see those images of otherwise despised capitalists leaping from 110 story buildings.

They need to spend 15 minutes in any one of several poor, Muslim theocratic nations.

The awe and literal gravitas of 9/11 was not 'created' by dumbasses with boxcutters gliding downhill with their nihilism and destruction. That awe and gravitas was created, literally, by the genius of those who had build the jetliners and fantastic 110 story buildings. The roar we heard that day when those buildings were destroyed was the roar of all the gravity that had been defied by those who run uphill. In fact, the only awesome events of that day were by those who were running uphill, including, those risking all to save what life they could, not destroy.

Fred

There is no separation between the religious and the political in Islam; rather Islam and Shari’a constitute a totalitarian means of ordering society at every level, including ritual worship, transactions and contracts, morals and manners, beliefs and punishments.

This is exactly what the secular West does not fully appreciate about the Muslim world, where even nations that are not 'official' theocracies are de facto theocracies.

We are a little fast-and-loose with our cavalier defense of our 1st Amendment. OTOH, we can't surrender it just to defeat them. This is what happens around ideas that are by definition singularities. Religion is like a 'black-hole' for reason and logic.

A successful, secular America is yet a political existential threat to theocracies. This is an asymmetric conflict. Theocracies per se are not perceived as existential political threats in our secular political context. (Translated: political leaders inside of a secular America see no political threat from news of Bangladesh on its ass, while theocratic political leaders inside of struggling poor Muslim nations do perceive a political threat from news of a secular America not on its ass. They have a lot of 'splainin' to do to their folks.)

It's not until the OMIR(old men in robes)in those theocracies pull their levers and launch their fringe megapolitical attacks on America, to generate their must have it PR, that America takes notice to the conflict with these theocracies.

And when we send them endless signs of propitiation to their God, wavering and hand wringing and endless angst over and apologies for our freedom, they are emboldened from their PR only campaign to "Hey...the West might be doable. They're ripe. We could win this thing."

We take our freedom for granted, as if we didn't have to defend it. Not just literally at our shores, but in the world, as it is. We can never apologize for our secular freedom to those with other interests, or it is over.

regards,
Fred

Something we didn't know about Bangladesh.

http://bdnews24.com/details.php?id=173269&cid=2

Is Dhaka the new chem lab for al-qaueda?

If there is a new Anthrax attack in America in the next few years... I will wonder.

Anthrax breakouts among livestock happen, but so does sloppy lab work.

And, so does sloppy terror opportunities.

Thanks to over a century of animal vaccination programs, sterilization of raw animal waste materials and anthrax eradication programs in North America, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Europe and parts of Africa and Asia, anthrax infection is now relatively rare in domestic animals with normally only a few dozen cases reported every year

Narayanganj, Sep 13 (bdnews24.com) — Anthrax is closing in on Dhaka, having infected nine people in Narayanganj, the nearest district some 20 km south of the capital, according to the district's top medical office.

With the latest cases, at least 504 people have so far infected with the disease.

(Dhaka is one of the most densely concentrated urban areas on earth.)

Fred

Oh, goody.  ABC's Diane Sawyer is going to sort it all out for us.

With these stories dominating the news in recent weeks, more Americans are talking about Islam than ever before. There is plenty of confusion about the Islamic faith, so "ABC World News" is taking your questions. What do Muslims actually believe? And what is different about life for Muslims?

According to Bangladeshi health officials, more than 508 people have so far been infected by Anthrax as a major outbreak of the disease spreads through Bangladesh's dairy belt. Hundreds of cows have died causing severe panic amongst the farmers in the country.

In most of the Anthrax affected areas in Bangladesh, farmers are throwing Anthrax infected dead cows, which may cause another serious hazard for fish in the rivers and large water bases. An unconfirmed source claims that, anthrax infected fish was already identified in Sirajganj district.

In one of the most densely populated regions of earth, the world's poorest people are handling an outbreak of Anthrax by ... throwing Anthrax infected dead cows into the rivers.

We should start a pool, as this unfolds. How long before the West is blamed for this?
