An example of 'reverse' outreach (making fun of the opposition).

Haha...a friend showed me this video yesterday. I love that they harp endlessly on the legal status of their organization. After all, it's not like the government has ever been wro-...

*is seized by a group of vigilante Scientologists determined to sue him for "slandering" their religon*

In all seriousness though, the Scientology episode of South Park is also worth a view. 'Course I can't really tell you where to find it, since it's intellectual property. Still, methinks we're all clever enough to get ahold of it if we really want to. The end of the episode is particularly searing in its portrayal of what Scientologists will actually do :)

"What is the difference then, between Dienetics and Scientology?"

"Ron clarified that, and I have the issue right here. Dienetics is further redefined as 'What the soal is doing to the body.' Scientology is further redefined as 'The study and handling of the spirit in relation to itself, universes, and other life.'"

I think that they lean capitalist -- like the Religious Right does.

Hubbard, or his kid, once said that he wonders how long the weak would be able to manage it -- when they "inherit" the earth.

In all seriousness Ed, I do agree with you that they probably lean more capitalist than communist. But they're severely marred by the rampant fraud and extortion that takes place in their Church to the point where calling them "capitalist" is almost a corruption of the term.

They are more like scam artists than anything else.  So profit matters, but is pursued via deceit, and unlike most scam artists they actually believe their own scams.

The most important question is:

Will this video help me get Katie Holmes into my bed?
