Yes, he did (among his many projects) the beautful paintings for Terry Goodkinds books :)

Since I am a bit younger, I don't know many of his early works, but I found them very detailed and well done. I think fantasy and manga drawings are the only artforms that do employ realistic painting and romanticism in our age. Perhaps this is a reason for the success of comics, graphic novels and fantasy, because Art itself has rejected such styles. In the end, it seems that there is still a market for realistic romanticism and therefore, it just had to find new ways to get some attention.
