Superb article. The author truly understands that it was atavism, i.e. primitivism, that was at the core of Nazi ideology, just as it is at the core of "environmentalism" today.

My one disagreement is the author's belief that an early victory would have prevented the Nazis from becoming mass murderers. Atavism, whether Nazi or "environmentalist," justifies and leads to mass murder of people whose lives require, and depend on, the use of their minds to live by transformation of the natural world.

I wonder if the author consulted the Libertarian National Socialist Green Party for some of his research?

Adam,

The article did mention culling of people. And I guess Jews would have been top of that list.

What I find surprising is that counterfactualists always had this weird idea of NAZI's in space. Why? Just because they had the V2 rocket?

I think technological innovation would have slowed down after the NAZI's realized their plans.

Luke,

Where on earth do you find these scary websites?

It's compatible with environmentalism.

Ten years ago, it was doubtful that humankind was having adverse effects on nature. Now, as cancer rates have continued to rise and far less natural land remains, and as our climate changes and natural species disappear or mutate into non-existence, we have to take the environmental question seriously. What will save us from ecocide? Having some motivation other than money, because it's always profitable to exploit the land and not waste money fixing the damage. It's competitive in business. We need a higher goal than money, and focusing on the culture and heritage of a people provides it. Furthermore, nationalism bonds each ethnic group to its own land, which encourages stewardship of the land as an enduring property and not disposable resource.

Is this even understandable?

NAZI greens! Yuk!

The Nazi's were certainly snappy dressers. Some were possibly great dancers. As far as environmentally chummy good friends I am not so sure. It's the 20th anniversary of the British registered "Rainbow Warrior", bombed (with the loss of one life) by the (this is ironic, are you sitting down?) wonderful boys and girls that bring you the government presently known as France! Somehow, I find it hard to fathom that if WWII had gone the way of the Axis powers that we would have had the "Regenbogen-Krieger".

Daniel,

Have you ever wondered "what if" you put a "du" before your surname? ;-)

Well, remember - contrary to the liberals' dreams, N.A.Z.I. is just as socialist as COMMUNIST, just a different gang of them. Ergo - why be surprised at the eco-nuttery.

duMarcius -

Strangely enough

No.

But thanks for asking. And let us not forget the "I"!

From what I can gather, the commies love polluting their rivers and seas. Not great environmentalists really.

And let us not forget the "I"!

Oh, I get it, you're NOT Daniel du MaurIer, Grandson of Daphne.

Psst. Don't let anyone hear about your French ancestry. They may start connecting you with the Rainbow Warrior bombing ;-)
