There is yet another number that many Christians want to ban.  It is 666.  The fundmentalists consider it to be the "number of the beast" from Revelations.

They succeeded in changing U.S. 666 in Arizona and New Mexico to a different highway number.

I also saw a case in Arizona Superior Court in which the lawyer for a defendant petitioned the court to changed the case number of the case.  The number was 99-666 or something to that effect with a year number and the sequential case number for that year.  The judge granted the petition and assigned a new case number.

I should have said Weird.  Sorry for the spelling mistake. (I couldn't figure out how to edit the post.)

Actually, there is another unholy highway that fanatical Christians believe needs to be cleansed from the world. The next integer-turned-statistic is I-69.

Stephen,

That was the point of the full article that Adam linked to--but now the link is dead.  The article went on to talk about the move to ban I-69.

Adam, I've never seen a 13th floor in California.

I had always assumed that buildings (and hotels, in particular) did not label any floors "13" because superstitious employees and patrons might refuse to visit that floor. It's a lot easier to just change the buttons on the elevator than to rearrange reservations and lose business because of your patrons' unfortunate numerological beliefs.
