Ted:

Re 'when did you read them [Tolkien's trilogy]?'  When they were 1st college-popular, in the '60's. See Malcolm's post #30. Keep in mind 'images evoked' necessarily vary reader-to-reader and could not be the same for all. And, 'imagery' is necessary in fantasy-world stories. Interestingly, I've found quite a few (as J. Fauth) who've found a similar prob (and 'exception') re reading these books.

I never watched Farscape. The only other show that I was really into recently was Roswell. From 1999-2002, it had an extremely dedicated following.

Heroes and 4400 are very good and since they are new you can ususally watch marathons to see them from the beginning.  Farscape would be worth watching if you could actually watch it in order from the beginning, but for some reason those networks that run it seem to have a policy against running it in sequence.http://www.sadgeezer.com/farscape/episode-19-nerve/images/farscape-10-30_jpg.jpg

I hardly watch television anymore. Of course, Hayden Panettiere is reason enough to watch Heroes.

I do like her acting and her character, but if you were going for sex appeal, Christopher Eccleston is more my type. Hayden's too much the big-haired bimbo type. I'd prefer Lucy Lawless... Here's Eccleston (recently cast in Heroes) as he appeared as the Duke of Norfolk in Elizabeth.

Farscape?  Isn't that how you get out of a burning building in Dallas?

She's been looking for Howard Rourke. All she can find is "players" like Chris Baker.

Actually she found domestic violence. She certainly wouldn't have gotten that from "'players' like Chris Baker."

Some of us "players" generally avoid the ones who want that. We know that they can't appreciate what we will give them. A woman has to prove that she deserves a great romantic life. Many of them just aren't up to the test.
