Interesting review.  I am motivated to find the movie.

P. J. O'Rourke would be a "South Park Conservative." I found much of Give War a Chance funny.  (What is the Saudi national anthem?  Onward Christian Soldiers.)  Lately, he has been doing more shilling for the in-crowd.

I thought this movie was really funny, too. Just watch out for the uncencored, unrated DVD version. It gets pretty gross.

A fraking delicious movie, especially because it made fun of the leftist "do-gooders" :) I think the movie had some downsides, like the portrayal of all muslim as stupid "derka derka - muhammed ali. Jihad!"-types, but It also was really really fun. And I think it had the most extended sex scene with puppets I have ever seen :D

I just say: "I am Matt Damon!" :)

You "think"?? As in: you think, but you're not sure?? What in the hell kind of wacky puppet movies have you seen?!!

{;-])

p.s. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie myself--though wouldn't recommend it for the faint-of-heart, the thin-skinned, the political-correctivists, or young children.

I saw the shallow portrayal of muslims as a slam on the All-American right's view of muslims.

Offensive humor doesn't tend to bother me as long as it's funny. And this movie was. I really loved how well they parody standard movie clichés, especially the songs.

Nope. Spinal Tap.

Remember when the Tap got bottom billing to "Puppet Show"

As in "Puppet Show and Spinal Tap"?

What kind of puppet show did you think that was?;>)

My favourite line: "You had me at Dicks fuck Assholes."

My second favourite: "ummm ... Global Warming ... Corporate America."

I loved seeing left wing actors and celebrities (a "fat socialist weasel") getting slammed for being Anti-American in media that will be seen by much of the public.

The movie could have done without the vomitting, blow jobbing and the bits of the sex scene that get included in the director's (un-)cut that Jeff, Angela and I saw.

And by the way, the South Park creators have explicitly claimed to be libertarian.

It took forever, but I finally rented it.  I live in Ann Arbor and my neighborhood Blockbuster has had 16 copies continuously rented all this time.  (I always thought my neighborhood was more conservative, and maybe it is, and this just underscores that.)  I agree that the movie makes fun of just about everyone. So, you'd better have a thick skin if you want to watch it.

My favorite line was the F.A.G. actor who said that they would influence the world by reading newspapers and repeating what they read on tv as if it were their own opinions.

I did not see the parodies of Muslims as being parodies of Muslims per se but rather as parodies of Hollywood war movie bad guys.   I noticed that Michael Moore had food on his shirt.  I thought that was a nice touch.  Also, the credits disclaim any involvement by Alex Baldwin, Martin Sheen, Sean Penn, et alia inter alia.  I thought the sex was funny and the puppet sex was interesting.  As soon as the one guy was asked the other guy why he did not trust actors, I knew where that was going, but I never would have thought of the gorillas.  That was pretty good.

All in all, I judge the movie to be politically neutral, as much anti-left as anti-right.  It is a parody.  Once is enough.

I'm sick to death of everybody bad-rapping leftists, especially celebrities. They have a right to their opinion too. After all, it's not as if Hollywood actors are the politically stupidest people on the face of the earth! Like the morally superior people at the Film Actors Guild, I too think we should talk to dictators and negotiate with terrorist groups. We should try to see it their way, and see if we can all reach a compromise. Why? Because that's the FAG way. ;-)
