Wouldn't the opposite be true, genetically engineered humans being discriminated by socialist afirmative action policies to provide 'equality of opportunity' to everyone regardless of their genetic lineage. I suspect that GM humans will become the new jews of the future, collectivist politicians would spread lies and conspiracy theories against GM humans. About them beleiving themselves to be a 'master race' controling all the levers of powers. The Press will publish sensationalist stories about the horrors of genetic engineering. Enviromentalist wishing to pass laws banning marriage between GM humans and normal humans to protect the genetic purity of the human race. Feminist railing against the Genetic Engineering Industry for promoting an 'unrealistic standard of beauty.' Christian Fundamentalists planting bombs in geneticists clinics and of course the philosophers condeming the selfishness of 'rich' parents wanting their children to be bright, pretty and healthy.

Actually, Malarki, I think your predictions for the future of genetic engineering are much more accurate than those made in Gattaca, and much of what you describe is in fact already beginning to take place. As I said, I think the movie is wrong about genetic engineering and how society will ultimately react to it. But that's really not the main point of the movie, and certainly no reason not to watch or like it.

That said I have actually watched the film, I thought it was very good portrayal of a man who manages to make his own fate. Not the fate assigned to him by society. Throw away the ludditism and you have yourself an excelent film.
