I just sent this letter to the editor of our local newspaper:

The current American war against Islamic totalitarianism faces a grave threat.  That threat comes, not from external enemies carrying physical bombs, but from internal enemies carrying intellectual bombs.  These nemeses adhere to their own religion and viciously attack all who oppose them.  These enemies of the Western world reside in the halls of modern academia.  They call the god they worship "multiculturalism."

In her book RETURN OF THE PRIMITIVE, Ayn Rand warns of the dangers of moral relativism and subjectivism and their natural implication, multiculturalism.  Her associate Peter Schwartz wrote an essay in that book called "Multicultural Nihilism" that shows in horrific detail the murderous results of such attitudes.  In his words, "Multiculturalism is the abject repudiation of centuries of civilization."

Do you share this concern about the loss of Western civilization to the physical and intellectual bombs of our opponents?  If so, then join the Florida Chapter of Rebirth of Reason for a discussion of this essay on Thursday, November 16 at 7:00 PM at Books-A-Million, 2251 Town Center Ave Ste 109 in Viera.  Contact Luke Setzer at (321) 544-7435 for details.

We shall see if they publish it.

Having worked in publishing, I would expect them to reject it as unpaid advertising. Is your local club listed in the phone book, or are you? If you wrote the same letter, signed, RoR coordinator it might get less notice, but be more acceptable. But then again, they may still publish it. Good luck.

I regularly get calendar notices published in that section of the newspaper.  I have had similar letters see publication in the past.

Don't get me wrong, I do hope it's listed. Just assumed that you submitted it as a letter to the editor, reading you first post. I sold advertising, and before that sorted the incoming mail. My boss would have yelled at me had I done anything other than call you as a sales lead. But local papers do want both content and the good will of their readers. And it is assumed that one letter represents thousands of the same opinion who are too lazy to get off their buts. Thanks for not being one of them.

Just another clarification:

I regularly send calendar notices to the Weeklies and Communities desks of Florida Today, our local newspaper, that specify the What, When, Where, What, Who of the RoR event.  They get published regularly.

I occasionally send letters to the editor of that newspaper about these events also for the Opinions section.  They do not always get published.
