If America deserves to survive, millions of people should refuse to buy the insurance or pay the fine.

What Ted said.

I'm getting squeamish just thinking of all of the people who'll lend credibility to this unjust law by complying with it, even though they disagree.

Rosa Parks kept her seat in protest.  Keeping your money is the only way to protest this peacefully, if you choose to protest. If not, pay the fine. It's cheaper.

Unfortunately, Obummer has that covered. They'll simply take it from them using the IRS.

I'd agree with you as to the civil disobedience, but the deck is stacked against us.

I have no objection to civil disobedience as a tactic, when it can be effective. But I think we will do better to focus on how to work grass roots politics to influence state legislatures to sue the federal government, to refuse to go along with unconstitutional laws, etc. And to focus on grass roots politics to create and participate in contested primaries to start stacking the deck for the November elections. And to do what we can to get as many people educated on the constitution, the concept of "progressives," and that the government is being transformed and the economy destroyed. Those are concrete steps that blend into a prolonged battle-plan to legislatively transform in the direction of capitalism. And we need to get creative about ways to turn around main-stream media - it is too important to be left out there pretending to give objective news.

If even tens of thousands of people refuse to buy insurance and force the IRS to prosecute this law will be overturned by the power of public ridicule.

If true they'll "fix it" in reconciliation.

The direction of any act by the progressives must be understood in terms of their goals. They want to control the entire economy. They want single payer health care. So, if they have eased off on IRS enforcement, it is to mollify people - FOR NOW, and with an understanding among themselves that they will rectify it later. The same applies to the period between now and the November elections. They will be balancing between creating every entitlement or give-away that will buy votes, and looking moderate as best they can to mollify tea party sentiments, and crafting vague language and toothless policy that they will 'fix' later. Anything that they do that reduces taxes, reduces government control, or protects freedom will be suspect - it isn't in their nature and I, for one, will be looking for the unstated motives. Their other tactic will be denigration of their opponents - painting them all as radicals, irrational, uncaring, racists, kooks, etc.
