| | When reading this joke, it reminded me of the following true story about seagulls:
Many years ago, on the Bay side of the San Francisco peninsula, there was a long, rocky section of coastline.
People didn't visit there much, but it was a favorite place for the seagulls to gather. Although there were many rocks, there was one rock that was much larger than all the others, and the seagulls would always gather on this one rock.
With so many seagulls getting together on this one rock, it was quickly covered in bird poop. The seagulls never seemed to mind, though, and kept meeting there.
There was so much bird poop on this one large rock, it looked like a melting candle. So much so, that the locals start jokingly referring to it as "Candlestick Rock", and the name stuck.
Many years later, these rocks were cleared by developers in order to build a baseball stadium for the San Francisco Giants. However, the name remained, which is why it was called "Candlestick Park."
