So what was so "insensitive" about that joke? The only thing insensitive about it is how it hurt my feelings not to see that motherfucker's scorched, smoking corpse lying on the ground getting fed on by dogs.

This makes a desecration amendment redundant.

In the interest of starting a flame war, I have to admit that I pity the foo' - er, um, I pity the guy who burned himself. Not only because of the physical injury he sustained, but also because he put himself in the position to injure himself because of his hatred of an ideal rather than his love of one. It's rather sad.

 Sarah,

Why would anyone flame you over that?  I have no pity for such people, but then I have a personal bias that I acquired on 9/11 -- so my thinking on this isn't as rational or objective as perhaps it should be.  That said, though, I do tend to have pity for those who are unable, for whatever the reason, to recognize their own stupidity.

Edit:  Post Scriptum:  Sorry I couldn't oblige you re: the flame war.   ;o)

Summer,

Flames fly over less sometimes. But perhaps a little more goading is in order. Marcus Aurelius is a wayward unchin-snouted horn-beast!

Sarah,

"...wayward unchin-snouted horn-beast."

I'd flame you, but I haven't a clue as to what that is (although a Google of "horn-beast" did yield a pic of Madeleine Albright)!

;o)
