I received this in our Daily News at work today:

Billy Phillips has been a close student of renowned Kabbalists Rav Berg and Karen Berg since 1989. He has been instrumental in making the ancient wisdom of Kabbalah accessible for millions of lay people throughout the world. Phillips has lectured on a variety of topics including the connections between Kabbalah and Christianity and modern-day physics. Phillips has conducted filmed interviews on the subject of Kabbalah with numerous scholars, physicists and theologians, including Nobel Laureate Arno Penzias, former U.S. President Bill Clinton, best-selling author and Princeton professor Elaine Pagels and theoretical physicist Michio Kaku. For a sneak peak of his lecture, visit http://atomandadam.wordpress.com.

When: Wednesday, Jan. 29, 1 to 2 p.m.

Where: KSC Training Auditorium

All are invited to attend. Please register in SATERN. For information on KSC's diversity programs, visit http://odeo.ksc.nasa.gov.

Has anyone here studied the Kabbalah?

Would anyone care to comment?

This sounds like another one of those mystics bootlegging physics to justify his own mysticism and "diversity" to give himself an audience.

Luke,

Having inquired of my practicing Jewish friends--tiny handful as they might be-- I was informed that people read the Kaballah because a particular facet of any religion involves personal insight, and a personal relationship with god.

This is justified on their part by referencing Plato's Socrates--great ideas come as having god whisper in your ear.

The relationship with math is obvious. Formal proofs are one thing, to be done with rigor.; yet both the idea for a proof and the original theorem to be proofed are bolts of intuition. Indeed, mystical.
