Ted,

I only actually saw that "Tex Mex" thriller last year on cable, but I think it is far better than Citizen Kane. My view, anyhow.

You said, "But," Jay? I'm not sure that I ever said Citizen Kane was better than Touch of Evil. Indeed, I would kill myself much less quickly if locked in a room with a repeating loop of Evil than I would if the loop were Kane. Given your boat fancy I would think Lady from Shanghai would be your favorite. I'll have to watch and review that next.

Never meant to imply you preferred one over the other. Lady from Shanghai - haven't heard of it. I really don't know Orsen Welles filmography. I should probably check it out. Only happened upon "Touch of Evil" by accident.

I don't know the reason why I selected this movie, Jodhaa Akbar from Netflix. I suspected it was from Ted but I can't find the reference. It is truly a breathtaking spectacle and has a theme that will appeal to objectivists — a benevolent ruler in the 1550s whose ambition is to unify Hindustan by peaceful means. This movie will be roundly condemned by Islamic militants because the hero is tolerant of all religions and even marries a Hindu while he is himself a Muslim. The scenery is gorgeous, the plot is on a heroic scale and the characters are believable.

Some viewers may criticize it for being too long (3 hrs 45min.) and for subtitles, but I found neither to be distracting. I recommend it, unreservedly.

Looks very cool. I did recommend Yaadein (or at least a song from it) by the same actor. (To tell the truth, this look 20 times more interesting.) I am not familiar with this movie, but I will check it out.
