| | We've had a couple threads talking about marriage and relationships lately, and Joe's article today prompted me to actually do a search on what alternatives there were to marriage (meaning legal alternatives, to see what some ways were to get some of those benefits that married couples automatically do without actually tying the knot). I came across the following site first and found it interesting: http://www.unmarried.org/index.html
They have some resources (including some legal considerations & links to more detailed books), FAQ sections, and they address all the different reasons people might not chose or be able to marry. Anyone been there before or found other good ones out there?
Getting away from the legal issues to society issues, people do ask me often when I might be getting married. Sometimes I just think it's a polite thing to ask, because when I explain in a couple sentences why I don't think I'll be married anytime soon (if ever) they agree/understand... I don't know if they're just being polite or if they really agree. :) But I've never had someone try to talk me into it, which I find sort of surprising.
