I know of at least two composers -- Rodney Rawlings and G. Stolyarov II -- who post links to their works here on SOLO HQ. I'm sure there are others. If you want to post a musical composition, artwork, or anything else, contact me via email and we'll talk. I won't charge for this service, as I have bandwidth to burn. However, I may turn down a file if I think hosting it will violate my web host's terms of service.

Matthew, thanks for the mention. I too will keep you in mind as a potential host, if for any reason I cannot use Solo.

We can host files here if people want to link to them for discussions.  Just email me.  Actually, it's starting to look like I should have made a self-composed music gallery!

Mr. Landauer,

An explicit music gallery at SOLO is an excellent idea. I have been pondering about suggesting one myself once I observed the degree of eagerness with which many SOLO members interacted with the rational composers of our time.

Examining the rate at which SOLO's content and features have expanded (prodigiously, I must say!) in just the past two weeks, I would contend that additions such as a music gallery would be merely the logical continuation of such a trend.

I would also like to publicly thank Mr. Graybosch for his hosting services; he will also be recognized on The Rational Argumentator early next week.

Jeff,

I notice that when I try to upload files myself to my Solo directory, using my own FTP program, my user ID is accepted but not my password. Is this by intention? I can think of a few reasons why you might not wish members to upload files on their own, but I thought I would bring it up just in case you were unaware of the situation.

The only apprehension I might have about a new, dedicated music folder is that all my past links to my files would be broken. Even if someone fixed the links, I would still feel nervous until I had checked out each and every one.

Rodney, you do not have an FTP account for SoloHQ.com.  The user accounts for the site are only used for the software that runs the site, and not for the FTP server.  It appears that with this host I can't set up limited FTP access -- that's it's all or nothing -- so I don't think I'll be giving FTP access.  You'll just have to email your stuff to me.

We can, however, set up POP accounts if anyone want an email address @SoloHQ.com!

No, that's fine. It's better anyway that Solo has control.

Another question occurred to me: Does Solo operate under bandwidth restrictions?

Yes, but it's much higher than we use, I think, though our traffic is up by 3 or 4 times since we launched the new site.

Greetings.

Mr. Graybosch, for his generous services in mirroring my compositions, has been given public recognition by reception of The Rational Argumentator's Henry Ford Award and Johannes Gutenberg Award. The awards pages can be seen here:
