Why not send her a copy of THE FOUNTAINHEAD? You could remind her of the interview you did, and of the impromptu concert she gave. And tell her you'd like to meet her again. You have nothing to lose.

Barbara,

When I said I was still in love with her, I didn't mean that I wanted to pursue a romantic relationship with her. I already have someone that I love and am committed to, and have been for 30 years. And Melanie was married when I met her and still is to the same man.

As Ayn Rand said, " ...love is not a static quantity to be divided, but an unlimited response to be earned." As such, I love Melanie, as a singer and as a person with a wonderful sense of life, and, yes, she does still make my heart beat faster. But I wouldn't replace the romantic love I have for my wife for anything.

Nice thought though, Barbara.

Barbara,

In reading your post again, I think maybe it was I who misunderstood you, and, you were suggesting a way to introduce Melanie to the ideas of Objectivism.

Of course, you're right. I've found from experience, beginning with that night 35 years ago, that it is easier to make contact with well known people than most individuals realize, as you and Nathaniel also discovered when you successfully contacted Ayn Rand for the first time a few years back.

I hope to see Melanie perform again someday. That night was the second concert of her's that I attended and I saw her perform a third time many years later.

My apologies for misunderstanding you, Barbara. I guess I'm just a romantic at heart.

Bob: "You were suggesting a way to introduce Melanie to the ideas of Objectivism."

Exactly. But keep being "a romantic at heart."
