"This provocative intellectual biography is must-reading for all those interested in the life and work of one of the most controversial thinkers of the 20th century. Drawing carefully from primary and secondary sources, Jennifer Burns has made a significant contribution to Ayn Rand scholarship."--Chris Matthew Sciabarra, author of Ayn Rand: The Russian Radical

Putting it on my order list.

Just finished reading Heller's book - that, too, is well worth the reading... between these two and Branden's, this has been a cornucopia year bookwise...

If you're really looking for something to read, Heller is worth while. It has more about her family that was not available when BB's book was written. Otherwise it pretty much follows her narrative. Heller makes some errors about the Russian that are howlers that most people won't notice. And she neither understands nor conveys the essence of Rand's philosophy. You'll get annoyed at Heller's conventional view of things, like her taking of Greenspans' recent bullshit as if he were just now "admitting" the flaws he has discovered with Objectivism. Please. If you absolutely have to buy the book as memorabilia, get VoAR first. For most people including Objectivists I recommend getting Heller and Burns from the library.
