Daniel,

Adam's post was just the typical sort of Islamic apologist perspective that is initially programmed into everybody, hence the reason I posted this book.  Because it was so obviously that sort of thing, I pointed that out and referred him back to the book.

And I'm not going to sink to the level you're trying to bait me into and dance like a circus bear for your morsels of approval... I would suggest you consider renting one of those organ-grinder monkeys if you want that.

@Luke:

Our use of the word man may be partly the result of the Christians. I have heard this on seminar on "Symbology and Language Before Christ", where they spoke about several matriachialic societies (especially in the East), which was dominated by cults and religions who used maternal rather than paternel elements in their society, politics and culture.
The Christian, Roman and also the Greek opposed those ideologies and fought them on a cultural and military plane. In the end, Alexander and later the Roman Empire erradicated the last of those tribes and societies. Then the masculine interpretation took over and the old matriachats lost their power.
This is why the Christians also used many pagan and gaian symbols for their religious symbolism (like the un-even cross or celebrating christs birthday at the time when the days get longer again).

At least, this is the crude layout, I have still in memory :)
