| | The shifts in the opinion polls are not surprising. The popular vote was close (and not contested). Last week on Meet the Press, Newt Gingrich acknowledged that there is a feeling that we all want the new President to be successful, even if we oppose certain specific policies. (See the Warren Buffett links here on RoR, recently.) At the same time, you have the automatic opposition from the other side of the aisle -- which is why we have another side to the aisle.
Just as President Bush's war in Iraq could not be successful -- physically impossible -- and generated opposition and criticism, so, too, are there social and political consequences to the physically impossiible "war on the economy."
As even during the Republican administration, consistent advocates of a liberated marketplace criticized the President and Congress, it is inevitable that the even greater intervention by the Democratic administration will generate even more vocal opposition.

What I find interesting is all these media references to Atlas Shrugged. Many people who never heard of it now have.
