| | Jim,
In Rand's time, it wasn't as well known what a profoundly negative effect smoking, lack of exercise, lack of nutrition, etc had on your mental and physical performance and happiness. Nor was it as well known what causes a person to be less healthy, what causes a person to be healthy, and to what degrees.
Back then, people thought, "I'll live until I'm 60 to 80, then I'll feel horrible, become useless, and die no matter what." Today, I think "I could an active enjoyable live indefinitely if I can live healthily for 60 more years."
OK, I should stop wasting time talking about the future, and make the future happen! : )
