Sidenote: I wonder how much longer the AS movie will languish in production. There seem to be no recent updates.

I'm ever curious to see who ends up with the Dagny role. At one point, the screenwriter talked about Jodie Foster as a possibility, who I think is incredibly competent, but not quite right. I'm curious about all the roles.

Personally, I liked the idea of a multipart TV series better, just because I think it would get more impact.

HBO miniseries might be better. That way they don't have to worry about being politically correct.

I'm not sure I would say that Eddie Willers' main lack of attraction for Dagny Taggart is that he's not a "genius." "Genius" is a loaded word and I'm also not sure that Ayn Rand's heroes are necessarily "geniuses." They are highly intelligent and creative, for sure. But, Dagny's attraction to them seems more because of their values and integrity than their intelligence.

Eddie is weak. He's not a leader; he requires a master to follow. He's too dependent on others. He even describes himself as a loyal serf--a servant to the Taggart empire. Note his attraction to Dagny is because she is strong and decisive. She knows what to do when there's a problem. His attraction to John Galt is that Galt is willing to listen to his complaints without being judgmental or contributory to their resolution.

How could Dagny be romantically attracted to someone weaker than her and dependent on her--given Dagny's natural decisiveness and strength of character.
