George, bravo! Well said and I agree with  you 100%.

Was it Rand who said that to say, "I love you", you first have to understand the meaning of "I"?

Well to borrow and adapt; before we give any credence to "them", we should first wait for evidence that they are able to understand the meaning of "think". I consider it to be nothing short of an atrocity when a prosperous, free, reason-respecting civilisition cedes the moral highground to savages by asking this absurd question.

Thanks for reminding us so eloquently which way to point the finger.

Thanks George - an excellent article.

Notice the cliché question is “Why do they hate us?” Of course, on the left and in the media, it is usually ask in the sense of “What have we done that they should hate us?” and not “What the hell is wrong with them that they hate the greatest country on earth?” And notice how few people level charges of bigotry at our enemies. But as soon as we criticize their culture and values ...

Great article, George!

It's rather simple: we already know what they think of our secular, this-worldy, happiness-oriented culture. It can't get any worse. Thanks for making such an eloquent case for US self-confidence.

Instead of asking questions like "Why do they hate us?" we should ask "Why don't we hate them?" They're certainly hateful and evil enough. They want to inflict an infinity of pain upon us, and only their weakness holds them back. We ought to return their hatred -- and multiply it times ten. Then we ought to act upon it.

Well-articulated, somber, and strong.

There is an important distinction to be made between understanding and justification. Because rational humans can understand the actions of serial murderers, rapists, and now Islamic jihadists, does not make those actions any more justifiable.

Answering the question, "Why do they hate us?" might increase our knowledge but it hasn't got a bit to with our morality or foreign policy.

Fine article, George.

"They" hate us so much that they are willing to die to prove it. Israel announced that it would send a number of its doctors -- and Israel has some of the finest doctors in the world -- to the affected countries. Indonesia and one or two other countries refused; still others did not reply.
