"Pack" doesn't immediately mean "carring a gun" to me, although yea this is a slang meaning of the word.

"Pack in Public" -> some people are armed in public areas, who?

For someone who already has "gun" context in mind or is very familiar with guns: "Open Carry" "Concealed Carry"

Otherwise you'd have to insert "Gun" in front of "Carry".

Of course we are talking about "public" gun carry.  Open or concealed is not important.  Also, gun carry by non-LEO citizens.

"Armed Public" -> the "public" (citizens in general) are armed

"Armed in Public" -> some people are armed in public areas

"Gun Carrying Public" -> the public are armed with guns (differentiating knives, keys, fists, other weapons)

I expected people to express an opinion on whether they were in favor of an increased number of the public to be armed in their ordinary activities.

I wanted the word "pack" to be imprecise so that readers would be tempted  to see what the issue was about.

I looked at Gofundme.com to see what was there but I couldn't locate anything related to Pack in Public.

"https//www/gofundme.com/" has an error.  There should be a period, not a slash, following the "www."  I entered it with the period and it took me to the site but couldn't find any way to search for the Pack in Public.

You are correct about the period instead of the slash. There should be a text box "Search by Zip Code or Name". Type in "Pack in Public"

However, this link should take you to it.

The name of the campaign aside, do you have any advice or comments on proceeding with the project?

Somehow the name has come to be the only subject worthy of comment.

I live in Phoenix which is the center of the county under Sheriff Arpiao.  He is a real mixed bag in terms of his political principles.  He doesn't seem to have a strong grasp of individual rights and he is constantly mired in controversy, but on the other hand he is well known for thinking out of the box when it comes to being effective in law enforcement.  To avoid overcrowded in the jails, he has a tent-city set up as a jail.  One his best projects, started long ago, is the volunteer Sheriff's Posse.  People can volunteer, get training, and patrol in a car that can't be distinguished from the regular patrol vehicle.  They have their own buildings in different parts of the city.  The voluteers don't carry arms, but they patrol, and radio in for a sheriff's deputy when they spot problems.  It is all privately financed - every penny - and has worked to be a great force multiplier.  They do patrol, search and rescue, prisoner transport, mall patrols, etc.

-------------

When more people carry guns, there will be more accidental shootings, and more arguments that end in gunfire.  But there will be less violent crime and fewer murders - the statistics already show that the net balance strongly favors lower murder rates, and far  less crime overall.

The real measure of the worth of increased concealed carry is that people can protect themselves.  When the social fabric is as tattered as it is today, and dangers abound, then the need for self-protection is great.  If we had a society that was more benevolent and less violent, there would be less need.

Good people carrying guns is a good thing.... until such time as there is no longer a need for carrying.  And when that time comes, people will put their guns away.

--------------

Open carry isn't as effective as concealed carry because it somewhat defeats the purpose of self-protection - it gives away the factor of surprise and may even attract those thugs that would want to take an openly carried weapon from them.  Concealed carry is a slightly better form of self-protection.

I've cancelled my campaign. My timing was impeccable but police chiefs and the NRA are stepping up their citizen arming recommendation  to a level that any effort of mine is insignificant.

I suspect that the campaign is now unnecessary because the people (in those states that don't impede them) are queing up at the gun stores all on their own.  I'd like to see the figures for guns sold over the next week or two.

I just bought another gun (lionheart LH9) and the gun shop owner said last week gun sales were very high.

I'm a huge fan of individuals arming themselves and taking responsibility into their own hands to defend their property rather than hope they can call the police and the police can get there in time and can and or are willing to help when they arrive.

In my opinion police are more for ensuring the government's thuggery is enforced rather than actually helping defend people's property.  That force initiation by fellow citizens is so rare is a testament to the good nature of man and the robber's fear of potential victims fighting back rather than the power of the manipulative politicians and their LEO minions.

Oh, and I'm much more concerned about government than terrorists or random shootings.

Given that US government entities consume 50% of GDP (index of economic freedom), and that their monopolized bank has to hold interest rates at 0 for the Feds to stay solvent...  Who knows what acts of violence and wealth confiscation they will do to keep their standard of living as the economy continues to falter, tax revenue goes down, and US Bond demand declines.

I imagine they will perform false flag attacks and create foreign rebel groups to perform violence and incite the American people to fight more wars and confiscate more wealth.  Oh wait.

Any bills passed banning rifles, rifle ammo, and I'm out.
