| | Thanks Jay.
I'm working on tactical plans for future actions, as are many others all across the country. I think things are going to explode in 2010 as we head towards the mid-term elections.
In the meantime, I strongly suggest that everyone write and call their Congresscritters on a frequent schedule. I have been calling all of Ben Nelson's phone numbers today and could only get through to one sorry person who had to listen to my diatribe for 15 minutes, while being interrupted every 20 seconds by another call coming in! All of the other district offices and the main DC numbers were off the hook or directed to full mailboxes. :-) I think he is experiencing a bit of blowback. Here is a letter I sent to him yesterday:
----------------------------------------------- Senator Nelson:
I read in the paper today that you have bargained away my personal freedom, and the freedom of every other American citizen, for some monetary goodies for your state. You intention to vote for the Senate health care bill has earned you a place in my personal ninth circle of hell, as a traitor to the US Constitution and to the ideals of individual liberty upon which this country was established.
Although not a resident of your state, I now pledge to give my financial and intellectual support to seeing that you are removed from Congress by the 2012 election - or sooner.
You are a disgrace.
With disgust, -- C. Jeffery Small -----------------------------------------------
You may have heard about RI Senator Sheldon Whitehouse's remarks, calling all GOP Senators and anyone else who opposes the health care legislation as racists. Here is the letter I just sent to him:
----------------------------------------------- Senator Whitehouse:
I have been reading about your comments:
"The birthers, the fanatics, the people running around in right-wing militia and Aryan support groups, it is unbearable to them that President Barack Obama should exist." etc., etc.
As one of the many, many people opposed to the health care legislation, I take great offense at your categorizing me, and all the rest of us who disagree with your views, as racists. Where do you get the balls to make a public statement like this? You have no idea who I am, and yet you lump me into a group and make offensive remarks. If anyone made a remark like this against black people, they would be censured by Congress and possibly forced to resign their office. However, when you categorize everyone who disagrees with you as a racist, are you supposed to simply receive a pass? If you had any shame at all, you would resign the Senate immediately. I think you owe me a personal apology. And you should apologize to every other liberty-minded American who opposes your health care bills on constitutional grounds, and not because of some totally unfounded racial hatred of our President. For being able to utter these comments, you have laid bare your true soul, revealing the disdain for humanity that lies within.
I see that you are up for reelection in 2012. Even though I am out of your state, I am now going to put my intellectual and financial resources behind an effort to have you removed from office. You have demonstrated that you know nothing about the US Constitution and the guaranteed individual rights of every citizen, and are consequently unfit to serve in Congress.
Sincerely, -- C. Jeffery Small -----------------------------------------------
The negative backlash against these and other specific actions by the people in Congress should keep them sitting on pins and needles. There is a very small chance at this point that we can stop the health care bill, but we must keep trying. We can undo some of the damage done after the 2010 elections. But keeping up the pressure will certainly retard the willingness of many of these people to vote on other controversial legislation. Add your voice to the growing cry for liberty.
Regards, - Jeff
