Thanks so much for the link.

I wish I was more impressed with Schwartz here.  He could have cited cold hard fact after fact in contradiction to the green guest, but chose to tow the party line with rhetoric instead. He came across as utterly out of touch.

Disappointing.  Too many years spent hovering in the tower.

Yes - that, too, was my impression - a whiner more than one who offered a good rebuttal...

And he  never really was intellectial enough to be in a tower - cloister  perhaps.....

Maybe he's spent too much time climbing the endless staircase to the tower?

Nah, "Cloistered" is a perfect word.

Thanks for the link.  It was good to see an Objectivist position put forth instead of a Conservative giving a compromise position or a 'moderate' giving an apology and whining that they are making changes.

I thought that his points were well taken and I agree with Steve that he stood out from the conservative compromisers. However, he has somewhat the same intonation as Peikoff and that has always been a bit off-putting for me as it does have a whiny quality about it.

All-in-all I'd give him a 7. It was good also just to have the name "Ayn Rand" before a large audience.

Speaking of which - a big front page  write-up in Tampa Tribune's Baylife section on Atlas Shrugged's 50th anniversary this year..... not badly written, either, considering wasn't by a Rand fan....

If I were going to be one of those talking-point, spokesperson types, I'd get a little training - I'd do some practice in front of my own camera.  I'd get some help in making myself more engaging and more effective.

The most important issue will always be what is said, but given that, it is stupid to ignore how it is said.

Steve, the ARI newsletter Impact reported a year or two ago that the main ARI speakers did attend a workshop that a prominent public relations firm offered.  So they have gotten the training of which you speak.

Glad to hear that., given that we live in a sound-bite world now.
